Dear AUP Alumni and Friends:
This year, 2017 is the Centennial year celebration of the Adventist University of the Philippines. The commemoration was started during the 99th foundation anniversary in February 2016 and thereafter, we had the monthly countdown participated by the different colleges. Each college was given a weekend every month to share with their alumni the joy of the hundred years of service.
The second phase of our festivity was done last January 29 – February 5, 2017. The celebration has featured several aspects such as the centennial run which traced the origin or humble beginning of the campus from Pasay City to Baesa then to Silang. It was followed by Intramurals, Community Service, Symposia, religious services/concerts, and the Festival of remembrance – the heart of the celebration which was done at the Centennial Park.
The third phase of the Celebration will be on June 16-18, 2017 primarily for those who were unable to attend the February celebration. The main focus of this celebration is the Silang Days. We formed a program committee composing of the pioneer class batches ’82-’85. Travel/Tour arrangements to North Luzon, Palawan, and Bohol were made; outings to a nearby beach/resort was also arranged but only few people have confirmed their attendance for this June celebration.
Based on the foregoing statements above, the Administrative Committee (AdCom) of the University in its meeting held on 11th May 2017, voted to cancel the June Centennial Celebration. Please accept our apologies with regards to this unfortunate matter. We would like to extend our deepest apology for any inconvenience this may cause you especially to those who have already made travel and accommodation plans.
We are hoping for your understanding.
For His Glory,
Pastor Abel B. Vergara, Director
