Requirements for International Students’ Admission

Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) is an institution of higher learning operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. However, it accepts application from individuals irrespective of race, color, sex, and religious affiliation, whose manner of acting, feeling and thinking are in harmony with the objectives, values, and beliefs of the institution and whose capacities and abilities show the possibility of achieving a satisfactory scholastic record. Although church membership is not a pre-requisite for admission, applicants are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the University. To qualify for admission, applicants must give evidence of good moral character, intellectual capacity, satisfactory health, financial capability, and a desire to learn. Admission to the University is a privilege and not a right.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

1.  A foreign student who comes to the Philippines for the sole purpose of taking courses higher than high school should be at least 18 years of age, and must submit the following documents required by the Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Foreign Affairs:

2. An applicant must have an average grade/over-all grade point average (GPA) of C (2.50, 80-82%).

3. An applicant must submit a certification of good moral character from the school last attended and a recommendation letter from a pastor, a school administrator, and if possible, from a conference director of education.

4. An applicant must pay an application fee of US $175.00, which is non-refundable, upon submission of the filled out application form and admission requirements to the University.

5. Financial/Security Deposit of US $1,000.00 which could be withdrawn upon finishing the program or leaving the University permanently.

6. An applicant must sign and submit a Foreign Student’s Pledge duly notarized. Form will be provided.

7. An applicant must submit Medical Examination Results – Chest X-ray, HIV, Hepatitis-B clearance, Urinalysis, Stools/Parasitology, Malaria smear and VDRL (for students from Africa, a vaccination certificate for Polio and Yellow Fever is required).

8. An applicant is required to take the entrance tests in Mathematics, English and Psychological tests to be administered by the University Guidance Office. If an applicant failed in the English test, he/she will be advised to enroll in English as a Second Language course for one semester before he/she will be allowed to register in a regular class.

9. One (1) copy of Student’s Personal History Statement (PHS form will be provided) duly signed by the applicant, left and right thumbprints and a 2×2 inch photograph on plain, white background taken not more than six months prior to submission;

10. Transcript of Records/Scholastic Records, duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post (PFSP)/Philippine Embassy located in the student-applicant’s country of origin or legal residence;

11. A notarized Affidavit of Support including bank statements or notarized grant for institutional scholars, to cover expenses for the student’s accommodation and subsistence, as well as school dues and other incidental expenses;

12. Photocopy of the student’s passport showing date and place of birth and birth certificate or its equivalent duly authenticated by the PFSP; and

 

Police Clearance Certificate issued by the National Police Authorities in the student’s country of origin or residence duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post having consular jurisdiction over the place. NBI clearance for applicants who graduated in the Philippines.
